Easy to use and scalable, the new platform has been designed to be used on any screen. It allows for the updating of greenhouse gas emissions inventories and the tracking of emission reduction efforts by transforming each raw data entry into CO2 equivalent. As the design lead team, we worked on the UX and UI aspect of the platform and collaborated with management, engineering, and sales from the early stages of the product to the go-to-market phase. Our work helped the company secure new investments and win new customers.
Context
Initially designed to map the energy consumption of cities under the name SG2B (Smart Grid To Business), we were mandated by the client to perform a pivot of the platform and redesign the user experience. Following this change, the company changed its name to "Alterum", which means "the other way around" in Latin.
The challenge
Tracking and reporting emissions helps companies increase efficiency, reduce unnecessary energy costs, and better understand energy consumption trends. Unfortunately, many times the data sets are incomplete, lack detail, or worse, do not follow any standards.
